The Prequel / Book 0.5: The Assassin’s Blade

The Assassin’s Blade is a collection of short stories that is recommended to be read after Crown of Midnight. Although majority of the characters in this book appear throughout the series and play major roles later on, if they appeared first in this book, they will be mentioned here.

Sam Cortland

Sam Cortland is an assassin in the Assassin’s Guild which Celaena is a part of. Her mother is a courtesan and prostitute in Rifthold. She asked Arobynn to take care of him if she died. Sam grew up in the Assassin’s Guild and knew Celaena since her childhood.

Tall and handsome, Sam has bronze hair and golden brown eyes. He has his mother’s high elegant cheekbones.

Arobynn Hamel

Self appointed King of Assassin’s, Arobynn Hamel is in the head of the Assassin’s Guild in Rifthold. He has allowed Celaena and Sam to live in the Assassin’s Guild since their childhood, training them to become the most powerful and skilled assassins in all of Adarlan.

Arobynn has slick, long auburn hair and grey eyes. He’s cunning and handsome. Due to his years served as an assassin, he’s strong and muscular.

Lysandra

Found by Arobynn Hamel as an orphan living on the streets, Lysandra was given to Clarisse Duvency who trained her to become a courtesan. Celaena and Lysandra has crossed paths multiple times growing up and share a mutual disdain for one another.

She is a stunningly beautiful and curvy woman. Her dark brown hair reaches down her back. She has green eyes, full lips and voluminous breasts. Her complexion is pale.

Rolfe

Rolfe, also known as the Pirate Lord, is the pirate who rules Skull’s Bay and the Dead Islands. He has tattoos on his hands one of which is rumored to be powered by magic to show treasures, ships and enemies.

Rolfe is a man in his late twenties. He is handsome, lean, tall and has a broad set of shoulders. His shoulder length brown hair and tanned skin is in stark contrast with his bright sea green eyes. His tattoos start from his fingertips and reach to his wrists. To hide his rumored to be magical tattoos he wears magical gloves.

Yrene Towers

Yrene Towers worked as a barmaid at the White Pig Inn, a disgusting and repulsive establishment in the small port town of Innish in Melisande. She’s been working at the inn for over a year when she encountered Celaena who was passing through the town on her way to catch a ship to the Red Dessert. Having had a very gifted mother, Yrene grew up learning the art of healing. She wanted to get to Torre Institute in Southern continent to become a healer, but ran out of money and began working as a barmaid.

Yrene is a beautiful woman. She has rich brown long curly hair with gold highlights. Her golden brown skin is accented by golden brown eyes. She has a slender frame and a small waist.

Ansel of Briarcliff

Born and raised in the Flatlands by the Western Wastes where the Witch Kingdom used to be, Ansel’s father was the Lord of Briarcliff. After her kingdom is seized by enemies and her father dies, Ansel took his father’s dead sword and made it to the dessert to train with Silent Assassins.

Slightly taller than Celaena, Ansel has medium-length, red wine colored hair and mahogany eyes. Freckles spread the bridge of her nose and her cheeks. She almost always wears ornate armor featuring engraved wolves as an homage to her father.

Ilias

Son of The Mute Master, the head of the Silent Assassin’s, Ilias trains in the dessert with other acolytes.

With his dark skin, brown hair and dazzling green eyes, Celaena describes him almost as handsome as Sam.

The Mute Master

The head assassin of the Silent Assassin’s and Ilias’ father. Having taken a vow of silence, he does not speak. He trains Celaena in the dessert in the ways of the Silent Assassin’s.

Often seen wearing white robes, he is a tan man with short hair and sea-green eyes same as Ilias’s.

Falkan Ennar

A merchant Celaena encounters in the dessert, Falkan sells spider silk.

Clarisse DuVency

A madame in Rifthold, Clarisse trains men and women in the art of being a courtesan, most notably Archer Finn and Lysandra.

Ioan Jayne

A Crime Lord of Rifthold.

Rourke Farran

Ioan Jayne’s second in command.

He has dark eyes and pales skin, usually wearing fine clothes in the color of grey.

Book 3: Heir of Fire

Characters in Wendlyn

Aelin Ashryver Galathynius

The lost Queen of Terrassen, daughter of Rhoe Galathynius and Evalin Ashryver of Orynth, Aelin Ashryver Galatyhinus is also the true identity of Celaena Sardothien. After the King of Adarlan made a move in the dead of the night to eliminate his political opponents and get rid of magic by slaughtering her parents in their sleep, Aelin managed to escape and survive. She is the true and biggest threat to the King of Adarlan’s grasp on the continent. Aelin can also wield fire magic and has an unusual amount of magical power.

Aelin, as a demi-fae, has inherited the shapeshifting skills of fae. Her “animal” form is her human form she’s lived as Celaena Sardothien. Her fae form looks more or less like hers human form, however she’s taller, leaner and more muscular. She also has the pointed ears of in her fae form just like all the other fae.

Rowan Whitethorn

A fae prince, warrior and one of the blood-sworn member of Queen Maeve of Doranelle’s elite Cadre. Rowan is the most powerful full-blooded fae warrior in existence. His animal form is a white-tailed hawk. He can wield ice and wind, a similar type of magic to Aelin’s fire. He is appointed as Aelin’s mentor during Heir of Fire, tasked with teaching her how to control and use her magic.

Rowan is tall and broad shouldered. His entire body is muscled and toned, a lethal warrior’s body. He has pointed ears and elongated canines like all other fae. His tan skin is covered in tattoos on one side of his face, starting from his temple all the way down his cheek, jaw and neck, disappearing into his clothes. He has silver-white hair that reaches to the middle of his back, accompanied by pine-green eyes.

Maeve

Queen Maeve is the ruling body of the kingdom of Doranelle. She’s Aelin’s aunt and a fae. She’s estranged from Aelin and her family due to a prior falling out. Maeve shows interest in Aelin’s powers and she’s the one who tasks Rowan, one of her bloodsworn warriors to train Aelin for here to learn how to use her fire magic. She has answers to important questions Aelin has and here condition is that Aelin masters how to use her powers.

Maeve is an incredibly beautiful fae female with raven black hair with moon-white skin and deep violet eyes. She’s graceful and regal, her features leaving no room for questions of her royal heritage and that she’s the queen of fae.

Galan Ashryver

Galan Ashryver is the Crown Prince of Wendlyn, and she’s Aelin’s cousin on her mother’s side. Aelin’s mother is his aunt and his father Glaston Ashryver is Evalin Ashryver’s brothe. He’s a demi fae. He currently presides in Wendlyn and is whom Aelin is sent to assassinate by the King of Adarlan. Galan is a good prince and is adored by his people.

Galan is a tall, demi-fae male with dark hair, olive skin and the signature Ashryver eyes — turquoise colored with rings of gold around his pupils.

Emrys

An older demi-fae male who is the head cook of the Mistward Keep who also serves as the Story keeper.

Emrys is elderly and hunched. His old age shows in his white hair and wrinkled hands. He has tan skin and chestnut brown eyes.

Luca

A demi-fae male who’s a few years younger than Aelin. He works with Aelin in the kitchens of Mistward as a scullery hand. He is jovial and warm from Aelin from the start attempting to form a comradery with her.

Luca is young looking, with tawny brown curls and brown eyes. He has a tall frame with broad shoulders. He is a bit gangly and hasn’t grown into his frame yet.

Malakai

A demi-fae male warrior who is Emrys’s mate and husband. He serves Mistward and protects it’s inhabitants.

Malakai has grey hair and is around the same age as Emrys.

Gavriel

A full blooded fae male who also serves as one of Queen Maeve’s blood-sworn. Gavriel has been serving Maeve alongside Rowan and Maeve’s other blood-sworn and has a close relationship with Rowan. He can shapeshift into a massive, golden-brown mountain lion which gives his notorious name, the Lion of Doranelle.

As a full blooded fae male, Gavriel is tall, muscular and has a broad set of shoulders. He has tan skin, is well muscled and has an overall feline appearance. His face is kind and content looking. Gavriel’s face has lovely features, he has tawny-orange eyes and golden hair cropped just below his neck. He is heavily tattooed around his neck, similar to Rowan. As he’s fae, he is taller than human men, has elongated canines and pointy ears.

Lorcan Salvaterre

A 500+ years old demi-fae, Lorcan is a member of Queen Maeve’s blood-sworn warriors also known as the Cadre. He is a skilled warrior with a streak of viciousness and ruthlessness. He is a devoted warrior or Maeve’s cadre and will execute her orders and see her goals accomplished no matter the cost. Lorcan possesses death magic and has no shapeshifting abilities. Out of all the Cadre, Lorcan’s powers are the closest to Rowan’s.

Lorcan is a huge, muscled man with a body honed by battles and wars he’s been fighting in for centuries. He’s about 7 feet tall. With eyes black as onyxes, jet black shoulder length hair and granite-hewn facial features Lorcan is beautiful but extremely intimidating.

Fenrys Moonbeam

Fenrys is a full blooded fae male who is a member of Queen Maeve’s blood-sworn warriors. He joined Maeve’s cadre alongside his twin brother, Connall. He can shapeshift into a white wolf opposite of his twin brother’s black wolf. He is sarcastic, clever and arrogant with a sense of humor.

Fenrys is described as an incredibly beautiful male by multiple characters across the series. He has long, wavy blonde hair and onyx black eyes both of which compliments his bronze skin.

Connall Moonbeam

Connall Moonbeam is Fenrys’s twin brother and is also a member of Queen Maeve’s blood-sworn warriors. His personality is the opposite of Fenrys’s, he’s broody, quiet and thoughtful. He can shift into a black wolf.

Connall is near identical to Fenrys except his hair is black instead of blonde.

Vaughan

Vaughan is a fae male who is a member of Maeve’s blood-sworn warriors. He can shift into a massive osprey with large wings.

Not much is known about Vaughan’s appearance, however he has dark hair and dark brown eyes.

Characters in Adarlan

Aedion Ashryver

Aedion Ashryver is Aelin’s cousin. After Terrasen’s fall, he served as a general in Adarlan’s military and is known as the Wolf of the North. Aedion’s mother was a cousin of Aelin’s mother Evalin’s cousin. Aedion was raised with the Galathynius household, leading him and Aelin to grow up very close.

At 6 feet and 3 inches, Aedion is a tall demi-fae male. He is heavily muscled as one would expect a war tested military general to be. Since he’s a demi-fae, he’s handsome, graceful and exudes dominance. Aedion has long, blonde locks and Ashryver eyes — turquoise rimmed with gold complementing his sun-kissed skin.

Sorscha

Sorscha is a healer in King of Adarlan’s court. She treated Aelin, Chaol, Dorian and Fleetfoot’s injuries in Crown of Midnight, and continues to care for Prince Dorian in Heir of Fire.

A mild mannered and shy woman, Sorscha is described as pretty but not stunningly beautiful. She often wears her chestnut hair in a braid, has hazel eyes and her skin is golden-tan.

Amithy

Another healer in King of Adarlan’s castle, Amithy has tended to Celaena’s wounds after the tournament in Throne of Glass. She often bullies Sorscha.

There isn’t a lot of physical description of Amithy in the books. She’s old, shriveled with a harsh face, her physical attributes mirror her personality.

Ren Allsbrook

A rebel working in Terrasen, working on restoring Aelin Ashryver Galathynius back to her throne. Ren worked with Nehemiah. He knew Aedion and Aelin as children.

In late teens, Ren is tall with shoulder length black hair and brown eyes. Years of being tested is apparent on his face from the scars he wears in his face.

Murtaugh Allsbrook

Murtaugh Allsbrook is Ren’s grandfather and the two of them work for the rebellion against the King of Adarlan together.

As an elderly man, Murtaugh is described as old, frail and slow.

Pytor

Pytor is a musical conductor in the Royal Theatre in the Kingdom of Adarlan.

Characters in Morath

Elide Lochan

Elide Lochan is the daughter of Marian Lochan, the Lady of Perranth. Her mother died the night King of Adarlan assassinated Aelin’s parents. After her family passed, Elide’s uncle Vernon took over as his warden. A few years into his protection, Elide fell down the stairs and severely injured her ankles. Her uncle refused treatment. As a result, Elide has a permanent limp and is in pain all the time. Elide is a servant in Morath where King of Adarlan is building his aerial legion.

Elide is a very petite woman with a pale face, raven-black hair and onyx eyes. Due to her injury from her childhood, her foot is twisted to the side and her ankles are covered with scar tissue. Elide is curvy and has full breasts.

Manon Blackbeak

A member of the Ironteeth witch clan, Manon Blackbeak is the heir to the Blackbeak Matron and she leads The Thirteen, the strongest Ironteeth witch clan.

Manon becomes one of the protagonists in Heir of Fire, the third book of Throne of Glass series.

Before magic was banned, the witches rode brooms into the battle. Now allied with the King of Adarlan, all three witch clans are to bound with wyverns to lead the aviary legion of the Adarlan’s armies.

Manon is an extremely beautiful witch with moon-white hair, cream colored skin and burnt-gold colored eyes. Just like all Ironteeth witches she has the retractable teeth and nails. Before magic disappeared she looked no older than sixteen however with magic banished she’s aged and is now appearing in her mid twenties. She’s actually 117 years old.

Asterin Blackbeak

A witch of the Ironteeth clan, Asterin is Manon’s cousin and her second in The Thirteen.

Asterin is wild and beautiful with golden blonde hair, tan skin, and gold flecked black eyes. She appears in her twenties. Like other Ironteeth witches, Asterin has retractable nails and teeth.

Sorrel Blackbeak

A witch of the Ironteeth clan, Sorrel is Manon’s third in The Thirteen.

Sorrel is not considered to be very beautiful for witch standards but pretty for mortals. Her skin is tan, her hair is dark brown and her eyes are black with flecks of gold. She’s short, compact and strong. Like other Ironteeth witches, Sorrel has retractable nails and teeth.

Vesta Blackbeak

A witch of the Ironteeth clan, Vesta is a witch skilled in archery. She’s flirtatious and light humored compared to other witches.

Vesta has bright red hair and cream colored skin. With her black eyes flecked with gold added to her striking features, Vesta is incredibly beautiful and turns heads of mortal and other men alike. Like other Ironteeth witches, Vesta has retractable nails and teeth.

Edda Blackbeak

A witch of the Ironteeth clan, Edda serves as a spy for the Thirteen with her cousin Briar.

Originally Edda had silver white hair, but both her and her cousin died it black to blend into the darkness. Like other Ironteeth witches, Edda has retractable nails and teeth.

Briar Blackbeak

A witch of the Ironteeth clan, Briar serves as a spy for the Thirteen with her cousin Edda.

She has dyed black hair. Briar is beautiful and youthful looking. Like other Ironteeth witches, Briar has retractable nails and teeth.

Faline Blackbeak

Faline is a member of the Ironteeth witch clan with her twin Fallon. She is a skilled witch, and leads the Thirteen in knife-throwing exercises. She and her twin are known as Demon Twins, a name earned due to their ruthlessness and cruelty.

Like other Ironteeth witches, Faline has retractable nails and teeth.

Fallon Blackbeak

Fallon is a member of the Ironteeth witch clan with her twin Faline. She is a skilled witch, and leads the Thirteen in knife-throwing exercises. She and her twin are known as Demon Twins, a name earned due to their ruthlessness and cruelty.

Like other Ironteeth witches, Fallon has retractable nails and teeth.

Thea Blackbeak

Thea has pale blonde hair and pale skin. Like other Ironteeth witches, Thea has retractable nails and teeth.

Kaya Blackbeak

Kaya has tan skin, brown hair and blue eyes. Like other Ironteeth witches, Kaya has retractable nails and teeth.

Ghislaine Blackbeak

Ghislaine is the oldest and the cleverest member of the Ironteeth witches, serving as their researcher and scholar.

With curly black hair, brown skin and sea-green eyes, Ghislaine is beautiful. She is young and beautiful. Like other Ironteeth witches, Ghislaine has retractable nails and teeth.

Linnea Blackbeak

Lin is a witch of Ironteeth clan and part of the the Thirteen. Like other witches, during her downtime she spends time with mortal men.

Lin has gold-flecked black eyes, olive skin and dark hair. Like other Ironteeth witches, Linnea has retractable nails and teeth.

Imogen Blackbeak

Imogen is a witch of Ironteeth clan and part of the the Thirteen.

Imogen has light brown hair, pale skin and black eyes flecked with gold. Like other Ironteeth witches, Imogen has retractable nails and teeth.

Blackbeak Matron

Blackbeak Matron is Manon’s grandmother and the head of the Blackbeak clan, one of the three Ironteeth witch clans. She brokers the deal with King of Adarlan for the witches to bond with wyverns and lead the army’s aviary legion.

Blackbeak Matron is a cunning and ambitious women. She embodies the witch clan’s valued traits, cruelty, violence and brutality.

With alluring features and distinct bone structure, Blackbeak Matron is a beautiful woman despite her age, although she appears much younger than she actually is. The Blackbeak Matron has the retractable nails and teeth, although she never retracts them.

Cresseida Blueblood

Cresseida is an Ironteeth witch and matron of the Blueblood clan. Compared to other witches she’s more mild tempered and compassionate.

Cresseida is slim and frail with blonde hair and blue eyes. She does not have the body of a warrior. Like Blackbeak Matron, her teeth and nails are never retracted. She wears the signature blue robes of Blueblood clan and wears an iron crown.

Petrah Blueblood

Tall and thin like her mother Cresseida, Petrah is the heir to the Blueblood clan. She wears her copper colored hair in braids which complements her freckled skin and blue eyes. Since she is the heir to the Blueblood clan, she wears a band of leather on her head instead of the iron crown of her mother.

Yellowlegs Matron

Yellowlegs Matron is the head of the Yellowlegs clan of Ironteeth witches after Baba Yellowlegs’ demise.

Yellowlegs Matron is an old crone, she is wrinkled and hunched over.

Iskra Yellowlegs

Heir to the Yellowlegs clan, Iskra is ruthless, cruel and a bit unhinged.

She has white hair which she usually braids and as the Yellowlegs clan is usually old, Iskra has a wrinkled face. She usually wears brown robes.

Abraxos

A small wyvern in Ferian Gap that is used as a bait beast.

Fendir

A violent, unhinged wyvern. He is yellow and large, but not as large as Titus.

Keelie

A massive, female wyvern who is almost as big as Titus.

Titus

The biggest wyvern in Ferian Gap available for bonding.

Book 5: Queen of Shadows

Nesryn Faliq is a City Guard in Rifthold and a closse confidante of Chaol. She works with the rebel group in the Kingdom of Adarlan to overthrow the King. Originally from the Southern continent, Nesryn’s family run a bakery in Rifthold. Nesryn is loyal, smart, cunning and extremely good with a bow and arrow however passed over for promotions regularly because of her gender.

Nesryn is a slim woman with olive skin and dark black hair cut to her shoulders. Her black eyes are always lined with kohl, and she’s very beautiful.

Evangeline

A young girl who is “owned” by Madame Clarisse DuVency to be groomed as a courtesan. Lysandra is originally tasked with training her until she is scarred on her face and is no longer considered beautiful enough for courtesanship. She’s around 11 years old.

A delicate, young girl with porcelain skin and dainty hands, Evangeline is a beautiful child. She has red-gold hair and citrine eyes. She also has deep scars on both of her cheeks.

Vernon Lochan

Vernon Lochan is the current Lord of Perranth and Elide’s ward. He stole the title after his brother and Elide’s father was killed and pledged his alliance to King of Adarlan. He works with the King of Adarlan and Duke Perrington to oversee the development of the King’s army in Morath. He took Elide with him as a servant.

He is a thin and slimy man with their that regularly sports a sneer on his face.

Tern

A member of the Assassin’s Guild in Rifthold, and Arobynn’s Second in Command. He is one of the three assassin’s who would inherit the Guild after Arobynn’s demise.

Tern has a unremarkable face that allows him to blend into the crowds. He has beady eyes and ruddy skin. He also has large brows. Tern’s preferred weapon is a cutlass.

Harding

A member of the Assassin’s Guild in Rifthold. He is one of the three assassin’s who would inherit the Guild after Arobynn’s demise.

Mullin

A member of the Assassin’s Guild in Rifthold. He is one of the three assassin’s who would inherit the Guild after Arobynn’s demise.

Book 6: Empire of Storms

Erawan

Erawan is a Valg king and is the younger brother of Mantyx and Orcus. He has possessed Duke Perrington for decades whilst planning his takeover of Erilea.

Erawan is an outerworldly beautiful man with pale skin, golden-blond hair and gold eyes identical to Manon’s. He’s built and muscular like a warrior with cruelty exuding from his body and voice.

Weylen Darrow

Weylen Darrow is a Lord of Terrasen and served as its steward during King of Adarlan’s Occupation. Darrow was the lover of Orlon Galathynius, the former king of Terrassen before it’s fall.

Darrow is an old man weathered by years of his homeland’s occupation and loss of his lover. He’s strict, cold and a little cruel.

Cairn

Cairn is the fae male who takes Rowan’s place after Rowan leaves Maeve’s blood-sworn cadre. He’s known to have a cruel nature and sadistic tendencies.

Cairn has brown hair and blue eyes with a face that exudes his cruelty and sadistic tendencies.

Brannon Galathynius

Brannon Galathynius is the King and Founder of Terrasen. He is also Aelin Ashryver Galathynius’s ancestor. Brannon was gifted the fire magic by the Goddess Mala he Fire-Bringer. Elena Galathynius Havilliard is his daughter.

Brannon is a handsome, tall man with shoulder length golden hair and eyes the color of brandy. As a Fae King, Brannon had the staple fae features with elongated canines and pointy ears.

Deanna

Deanna is the Goddess of the Moon and the Lady of the Hunt. She is Mala Fire-Bringer’s sister.

It’s unclear what Deanna looks like, as she is a Goddess and doesn’t walk amongst mortals very often. She is usually depicted with a crowned with a star and wielding a bow and a golden arrow.

Mala Fire-Bringer

Mala Fire-Bringer (Mala Light-Bringer) is the Lady of the Light, Learning and Fire and Goddess of the Sun. Her sister Deanna is always known to be her rival. Aelin Ashryver Galathynius and Brannon Galathynius are descendents of Mala and get their gift of fire from her.

Mala does not have a physical description, however it can be assumed that she’s graceful and has an otherwordly beauty as she is a Goddess.

Rhiannon Crochan

Rhiannon Crochan is the last Queen of the Crochan Witches. She also cursed the Witch Kingdom leaving it barren and dead.

Rhiannon has black-hair and blue eyes. She wears a crown of stars.

Endymion Whitethorn

Endymion Whitethorn is Rowan Whitethorn’s cousin. He is also known as Enda and is also a Prince of House Whitethorn. Rowan and Endymion grew up close to one another.

Endymion looks like Rowan with silver hair and green eyes, however his eyes are also speckled with brown. He is built like a warrior but is not as muscular as Rowan.

Sellene Whitethorn

Endymion Whitethorn is Rowan Whitethorn’s cousin. She is Rowan’s youngest cousin.

Like Rowan, Sellene has long silver hair and pine-green eyes.

Essar

A Noble Fae woman from Dorannelle, Essar is friends with Lorcan and is Dresanda’s sister.

Molly

Molly is the leader of a traveling circus. She is rude and greedy.

Ombriel

Ombriel is Molly’s niece and is also a part of the traveling circus.

Book 7: Tower of Dawn

Sartaq

Sartaq is the second oldest child of Urus, the Khagan of the Southern Continent. He is the commander of The Rukhin, the Northern Armies of the Khaganate who are incredible warriors riding into battle on the backs of giant birds.

With long black hair falling below his chest, black eyes, tall frame and broad shoulders, Sartaq is a honed warrior and very handsome man. His dark skin is even darker than his family’s because he spends majority of his time flying on the back of his Ruk, Kadara.

Arghun

Arghun is the oldest son of Urus, the Khagan of the Southern Continent. Arghun runs the spy network of the Khaganate. He is a true politican and deeply embedded in the court life. He’s smart, cunning and always calculating.

Arghun is tall, slim and has the traditional characteristics of Southern continent with dark hair and dark eyes.

Hasar

Hasar is the third child of Urus, the Khagan of the Southern Continent. Hasar runs the armada of the Khaganate. She has a lover named Renia. Hasar has a cocky personality — she’s brave, opiniated and sassy with a deceitful temperament. She’s prone to scheming.

Farasha is the horse given to Chaol during the events of Tower of Dawn. She is a beautiful black horse with ebony colored hair. Farasha means butterfly, although this could not be a more unfitting name considering her wild and untameable nature. Her nickname is “The Horse of Death.”
