If you’re like me, you’ve probably read and reread Fourth Wing and Iron Flame a dozen times ahead of January 21, 2025 also known as Onyx Storm release day.

I’m currently diving back into Iron Flame one more time, and my head is buzzing with theories.

I love The Empyrean series so much that I’ve been borderline obsessed with coming up with theories since November 2023.

I even went as far as collecting every single epigraph at the start of each chapter, sorted by source, to try and figure out what Rebecca Yarros’s secret project might be (Don’t judge me)

After months of theorizing about what’s coming next with each new popular release, my friends and I started doing Book Bingo—each of us gets our own card, and we mark them up as we read through. It’s been such a fun way to add even more excitement to these releases.

Below are ten bingo cards for you and your book club to use while reading Onyx Storm! Have fun with them, and if you manage to get a bingo—or, heaven forbid, not a single hit—let us know on our usual social channels!

OKAY I have questions because we can assume certain things but we don’t know for certain, right? So I guess I need confirmation on some stuff.
    1. I do not consider Violet and Cat “great” friends, so I didn’t initially mark it. I guess I’m wondering if others did? Because they’re friendly enough, and even loyal to each other, but not great friends.
    2. Xaden obvi became more than an initiate, but we don’t know where he is so I didn’t mark that he joined the Venin because his plan was unclear to us as readers. Did anyone mark it? If so, what is your justification?
    3. Andarna is not THE weapon to defeat ALL venin, but she can burn them and defeat them individually in that sense. So I marked it because semantics??? Any thoughts there?
    4. We assume (at least I do) that Imogen has used her signet on Violet before the end of OS but do we ever get clarification? Im genuinely asking because I can’t recall.
    5. FINALLY, do we mark that some dragons work with venin? Bc Sgaeyl is still with Xaden. Jack had his dragon. Theophanie literally tells Violet she can keep her dragon if she wants. Thoughts??

Such great questions and insight! Here are my takes on the answers —

      1. I didn’t mark it either. I was more looking from a closer female friendship e.g. two certain girls from Throne of Glass.
      2. I _think_ he became an asim if not higher. It’s a bit more implied what Xaden’s going to do next, you can read our analysis here! https://bookishgoblin.com/onyx-storm-ending-explained/
      3. I’d say it counts. I think why Andarna can burn the Venin while the other dragons can is more about https://bookishgoblin.com/are-the-empyrean-dragons-using-wrong-kind-of-magic/ what we’re discussing here, and not specifically _her_. I’d wager all non-continent dragons can burn Venin.
      4. We do not. But there are plenty of theories out there claiming Imogen’s been wiping Violet’s memory all book if not just the entire Empyrean duration
      5. Oh that’s such a good point. Technically _yes_ i’d say you can mark it, because Sgaeyl does go with Xaden. But when i put the bingos together what I have in mind was more that some dragons are nefarious 🙂
