As a self-proclaimed Ali Hazelwood connoisseur (see Problematic Summer Romance Review, Bride Review, Deep End Review), I truly find her to be one of the top romantic comedy writers of our time, and absolutely the queen of STEMinist romance. In case you’re not familiar, Ali Hazelwood writes STEM rom-coms featuring brilliant women and men who fall firstโฆ and fall hard. Weโre talking pathetically, deliciously, down bad.
Of course, a well-educated reader always knows where the spice is hiding, whether itโs to hunt down those steamy scenes or adjust the experience with a closed-door mindset. Either way, please enjoy this Ali Hazelwood spicy chapter guide, covering Love, Theoretically, The Love Hypothesis, and Love on the Brain.
The Love Hypothesis Spicy Chapters
Ah yes, The Love Hypothesis, Ali Hazelwoodโs debut STEMinist romance, where Olive, a biology PhD student, kisses the grumpy professor in the department, Adam, to convince her best friend to go out with Oliveโs ex-boyfriend (whom she couldnโt care less about). Of course, Adam and Olive end up in a classic fake dating situation, complete with increasingly absurd public displays of affection, all so that Ann can date Jeremy without feeling guilty.
This book is quirky, wholesome, and genuinely funny, but it also contains a very reasonable amount of spice for anyone curious about the heat level.
Fun fact: The Love Hypothesis was one of our first-ever reviews on this website, so it’s especially special for us.

Love, Theoretically Spicy Chapters
Love, Theoretically, also known as my favorite ever Ali Hazelwood book, is the story of Elsie, who fake dates (lol yes, Ali has a theme) Jack, a grumpy theoretical physicist. Elsie and Jack are immediately drawn to each other, and things get even more complicated when Jack finds out Elsie is covering for her brother as his fake girlfriend and is also interviewing for a job in Jackโs department. Naturally, Jack would prefer his close friend to get the position instead of Elsie.
I donโt want to give too much away, but Jack is considerate, assertive, and just the right amount of possessive. Basically, heโs everything you want in a romantic comedy MMC.

Love on the Brain Spicy Chapters
Love on the Brain follows Bee as she begins working with an engineer named Levi on a neuroscience project at her new job with NASA. But thereโs a catch: Bee and Levi went to school together, and Bee is convinced that Levi has hated her since their very first meeting.
Thereโs close proximity, a bit of a behind-the-scenes scheme, and lots of delicious brain science. Out of the three Love books, this one is my least favorite, but itโs still a fun ride. And I absolutely loved the engineering bits in this one.
